Monday's Soap Box...

Michael Phelps, what have you gotten yourself into now?!?!? First a DUI and now this?!?!?
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Now, don’t get me wrong….I may not agree with the choices he makes, but I do think that what he does on his own time is his own business, and should stay that way.
However, I will say this: if you're going to do it - for God’s sake, don’t let yourself be photographed!
I’m sure he’s going to end up losing some endorsements because of this, and it’s his own damn fault.
Enough of that crap…..

Once again, I had a great weekend, although I have to say that I’m kind of in agony right now. Not gut wrenching, 'I can’t function' agony, but my back is KILLING me. It’s a constant pain that kind of just sits there, constantly bothering me.
It all started on Monday, the 16th of January when Jim and I spent the morning shoveling. The day after we shoveled, I was sore, but I thought it was generic pain from doing physical activities, and being out of shape. :-) Unfortunately, it’s been really bothering me since then. Maybe I’ll call my doctor this morning and get a referral from him?? I’m tired of being in pain. Annoying!!!

Anyway…rehearsals have been going GREAT. We have a ton of super-talented folks in the show, and the whole process has been really fun so far. It’s so nice to have something to look forward to three times a week!! YAY!

Saturday morning, I spent the morning doing laundry and watching the Food Network. Can I just say that I’m COMPLETELY ADDICTED to the Food Network? Seriously. I watch it from the time I get up in the morning (On Saturdays and Sundays) until Jim makes me stop watching it and do something else. :-)
I’ll have dedicate an entire entry to it, but let it be known….I love that damn channel.
On Saturday night, Jim and I went to a wine tasting event for my sister’s church. It was actually quite fun, even though I was a little bit tired going into it. Jim and I went to dinner beforehand and then met my friend Joanne and a co-worker of hers, Michelle. The four of us had fun. Joanne and I tend to laugh a LOT when we get together, so we know that whenever we have plans – laughter is inevitable. And she reads my blog everyday, so how bad can she be?!?!?

OK – I’m going to get some work done….

In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the scandalous picture that is putting Michael Phelps back on the front page….for now:

I laughed when I read your blog this morning....

PS - good luck with the upcoming auditions. I hope you plan on writing about the whole process.
Very exciting!!!

As someone who suffers from a chronic pain condition involving the back, you should get it checked out. Most likely you just pulled a muscle while shoveling - the motions involved easily can lead to that.

However, you never know just how serious it might be - or how serious it can get. I went years without being seen for a doctor (thanks to my parents) and before I knew it, I was walking like an 80 yo and only in my 20s.

Oh, and as for the Aretha hat photo. I almost tinkled my boxers. ha!

You know, people need to lighten up on Michael Phelps. Yeah a DUI at 19 and he smoked some weed at 24 - that's what 24 y/o's do and it's not like he was driving. I hate the groveling aspect of his apology. If it was me I would've been like, "Yeah - I took a big hit off that bong. I was at a party and I had a good time." Of course I already say that now....

Wine tasting at a church? High Service Episcopalians? :)

Food Network! Yes! I'm addicted to Paula "I Can't Feel My Left Arm Y'all" Deen - not only are her recipes to die for (just for the butter content alone) but her sons are quite yummy too. If you haven't already, make the Krispy Kreme Donut Bread Pudding. Fair warning - you're going to need a shot of insulin before you have a serving.
