A beautiful day in the neighborhood...

Happy Friday, my friends!!!

It's a lovely morning here in MA, and I'm THRILLED that it's Friday.  Yes, my job is still pretty rotten :-) but I'm rising above that fact and not letting it bring me down.  Holla!!

Anyway...as I said, it's a BEAUTIFUL morning out there and I'm pretty sure it's supposed to stay nice throughout the day.  We're expecting rain overnight which could put a damper on softball tomorrow, but according to the weather reports, it's supposed to clear up by the afternoon.  Hopefully, my 1:15 game will be just late enough to escape the rains....we shall see.

Jim and I cleaned the entire house last night so we woke up this morning to a wonderfully, sparkling, home.
That is such a great feeling....nothing like a clean house.
Tonight I don't know what's on the schedule, but it better involve laundry.  :-)

Tomorrow is my sister Donna's birthday (Happy Birthday, Donna!!) so we're going over to her house tomorrow night to celebrate with her and her friends.  My dad and Betty are coming home from Florida today, so they'll be stopping by tomorrow night as well.  I haven't seen my dad since Christmas, so I'm very excited to see him.  Since he had his multiple by-pass surgery, he's been taking it easy, but he's pretty much back to normal and feels great.  Thankfully, everything went as it should and he had a fairly uncomplicated recovery.  Phew!

Sunday is Mother's Day and I have a game at noon, followed by who knows what.  I'm going to try and stop by the cemetery on my way home from the game to visit my mom, which will be nice, since I haven't been by there in a while.  I usually get a little sad around Mother's Day, but I try not to think about it too much.
It will be nice to spend some time there and make sure that everything is looking good.  there's nothing more depressing than visiting a grave and seeing that it's all overgrown and messy.  Yuck.

I'm going to stop by and visit my best friend's Mom too.  Since she was pretty much a mother figure to me, and since he's on the other side of the country, I'll stop by and say 'hello' to her as well.  I think I've mentioned this before, but it's so odd when I go to the cemetery these days.  When my mom died in 1985, I never even knew that particular cemetery existed since it was on the other side of the city from where I lived.  She was the only person I knew that was buried there, and if I went there, it was solely to see her.  Well, it's been almost 25 years since she died (W-O-W!!!) and now when I go to the cemetery, I know so many people buried there, it's crazy.  It's kind of nice though, because I get the chance to spend some time there, walking around and thinking about people I hadn't thought about in years.  The truth is, if I weren't already there for my mom, the chances that I would swing by to visit them are very slim, so it's a strange benefit of spending time at the cemetery.

OK - well THAT was an unexpected tangent.  :-)

I'm getting back to work now, so you all have a GREAT weekend, and you'll hear from me soon.

P.S. - Guess where I'm going on Sunday night?!?!?

And guess where I'm sitting?!?!?

Can't. Even. Wait.

Have fun this weekend. I'd love to go to an MLB game. It's been forever! I'm an Indians fan which means I have to hate the Yankees. It's in my blood!! And since I'm an Indians fan I'll say this for YOUR sake only: Go Sox!

Let's hope the Red Sox have pulled their collective asses out of the fire and can actually beat the skankees.
