Not keeping up with my blog (remember when I used to write every day?!?) has really made me sad.
Not only because I really enjoy writing (and reading) posts, but my lack of blogging makes me that much more aware of the fact that there's so much other 'crap' going on which is keeping me from blogging.
Does that make sense?
Since I last wrote, Jim and I went with friends on our yearly excursion to the Yankee Candle flagship store out in South Deerfield MA and (as always) we all had an amazing time. We go with friends of mine from UNH, who I also consider great friends of Jim's as well. This year, we 'allowed' one couple's daughter (and her boyfriend) to join us. There's always been a strict 'no kids' rule, which allows us to shop at our leisure, without having to deal with meltdowns, naps, etc....but now that she is a senior in high school we figured that it was safe to let her join us. ;-)
Anyway, it was a LOT of fun, filled with tons of stories, and trips down memory lane. Oh, and candles....lots and lots of candles - as well as plenty of Christmas-y stuff to decorate our houses with!
Speaking of, Jim and I have completed the decorating for this year. We've put up the Christmas Village, the tree (which is BEAUTIFUL), brought out all the decorations, and yes, once again, Jim did a bang-up job with the outside lights.
I will post some pictures of the aforementioned decor so you don't have to just read about it here.
I PROMISE. I'm writing myself a note right now, so I don't forget to do it.....
Other than that, I've really just been busy with work, and trying my damnedest to enjoy the holiday season and our first Christmas with Zachary, as best as I can.
I'm not gonna lie, it's been challenging. Work is really getting me down (as you're all aware) and the couple of 'lights at the end of the tunnel' regarding other options have recently faded, so more than ever I feel like I'm trapped here with no way out. (cheery, ain't it?)
Add to that the fact that this time of year is pretty difficult anyway, because the anniversary of my mom's death is quickly approaching (it'll be 26 years on 12/22). I can't help but think about the fact that she never got to meet Zachary (or Jim, for that matter) and that she never got the chance to see me be a dad.
Yes, I know...she's "watching over me from above" and all that, but it's not the same as her being here for real. :-)
BUT - as Patti LuPone says (or at least I'm pretty sure that's what she was saying - yeesh, that DICTION!)
'Life Goes On' - right?!?!?!?
Have a great Friday....and keep your eye out for those pictures....they'll be posted soon.
Promise.
xoxo

I've only just discovered blogging and like you, I am really enjoying writing and having my work read. I never realized that I would appreciate other people reading my creations quite as much as I do.
I've noticed a trend (probably obvious to the casual observer hence my discovery of it), that people dive in and dive out of the blogosphere quite regularly. I am always saddened when I start following someone only to find that they are ceasing. And, since blogs seem to have a very long "half life", I am also disheartened when I stumble across one that I enjoy only to find that it hasn't been updated in a couple of years.
Que sera sera I suppose. I expect it will happen to me as well one day. When Buddy Bear (of "A Work in Progress blog)encouraged me to start, my fear was that I wouldn't be able to sustain it. Well, it's been a scant six months and I'm still having fun and still finding things to write about.
I hope you are able to continue on - I look forward to seeing more of your posts and pictures of your sweet family.
I am always glad to see you posting; I appreciate whatever you post, for I do enjoy hearing from you.
I hope you have a super holiday this year!
And for the record? I think I'm the only gay who despises Patti Lupone.
can't. stand. her.
